How to Build a Plan

Purpose

Provide a combination of theory and practical experience of the principles and methodology for establishing a comprehensive Business Continuity Management Program for your organization.

Course Description

This course will walk you through the Business Continuity Management (BCM) life cycle by highlighting an internationally recognized methodology from DRI International and The Business Continuity Institute. You will gain a solid understanding of the concepts for building a business continuity plan to protect your critical business in the event of a business interruption. This course is designed for individuals who need practical tools and techniques to get started.

Target Audience

Your organization’s business unit management and administrative support who require the knowledge and practical application to prepare and implement a Business Continuity Plan (BCP).

Course Format

Through a combination of lecture with visual slide presentation and hard copy handouts for review and reference plus hands-on interactive case study you can start building your own tool kit. We will provide up to date noteworthy examples and experience as it relates to the theory. Professional instructors with extensive business continuity and industry experience teach the course. They hold professional designations from DRI International as Certified Business Continuity Professionals.

Purpose of training

To develop skills and abilities across the private, public and non profit sector for developing, preparing and implementing Business Continuity Plans, in a way that:

  • Involves participants in an interactive learning process,
  • Focuses on the skills required to increase effectiveness as an BCM planner,
  • Provides a practical set of BCM planning tools based on a clear understanding of the concepts and methodology to be applied,
  • Provides a framework for building a BCM expertise-exchange partnership capability within the Community,
  • Allows participants to become comfortable and effective as BCM planners.

Deliverables expected from this course

An increase in the participant’s:

  • Awareness and understanding of the BCM methodology used in private/public sector with realistic expectations for the process,
  • Understanding and commitment to the need for a BCM plan at each essential site,
  • Ability to communicate with and motivate management to initiate a BCM project,
  • Ability to act as a Project Leader on a BCM Planning Project.
